E/T/C London illuminates York

Large scale projection specialists E/T/C London have produced a centrepiece show for the 10 day 'Illuminating York' event.

The work, "Accendo", involved two independent but complementary video and film projection shows running concurrently.

One was projected onto the ruins of the 10th century Benedectine Abbey of St Mary's, and the other onto the Yorkshire Museum, with both buildings located in Museum Gardens in the city centre.

Using the topics of astronomy, geometry, mathematics and music as inspiration for the demonstrations, E/T/C developed these into two 13-minute projection shows.

Programmed and run via an E/T/C OnlyCue system, three PIGI 6kW projectors were used to cover the 75m span of the Abbey’s arches and towers, each fitted with double rotating scrollers containing approximately 10m of film and 50 images.

Video was used for the Museum with the 35m wide stone fascia used as the projection surface and was covered by two Barco R18 projectors. The content was then stored, programmed and played back via E/T/C's OnlyView multimedia control platform.
